Falcons are hatching in downtown Rochester

provided photo

Spring means the time is here for the annual watch for Rochester’s Peregrine falcons and the offspring they produce, which are called “eyases.”

The birds live at the top of the Times Square Building in downtown Rochester, and the Genesee Valley Audubon Society and Rochester Falconcam say the baby Peregrine falcons started hatching on Monday with three so far and one more to go.

They are being cared for by parents Beauty and Dot.ca.

It’s the 11th year the Rochester Falconcam, www.rfalconcam.com, has monitored the peregrines who nest atop the Times Square Building at Exchange Blvd. and Broad Street.

If you want to learn more about the falcons, Genesee Valley Audubon will have an orientation meeting, May 20th  at  10am, at the Central Library, 115 South Avenue.
